Gather : Connect : Make
The Hearth
Monthly Makers Group (16+)
East Pollokshields Quad, Glasgow.
We meet on the first Saturday of each month for a few relaxed hours around the fire, crafting with natural materials.
The intention is to provide a welcoming sheltered outdoor space, close to nature, to allow you to reconnect with your creativity around the generative warmth of a communal fire.
The Hearth is free to attend, thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.
Please email to let us know which session you’re coming to projects@wearewonder.org

What happens at The Hearth
-
We gather around the fire, welcome everyone and introduce the session. Each month focuses on a different material or craft — for example wood and whittling, or willow and weaving — led by experienced forest school practitioners and local craftspeople.
We make together at a relaxed pace, focusing on the process rather than the outcome, share a hot drink and biscuits, and leave with new skills to explore further at home. -
Absolutely. The Hearth isn’t about perfect results — it’s about curiosity, creativity and giving things a go. Beginners are very welcome.
-
No. Just come along and explore, play and see what unfolds.
-
Completely. You might be surprised by what you enjoy. The Hearth is about bringing head, hands and heart together, not being “good” at something.
-
Absolutely — you’d be very welcome. The Hearth is about gathering, connecting and making. You can take part in any (or all) of those. Come as you are.
-
Please dress for the weather — layers and warm clothing are recommended, as we’ll be outside for 2–3 hours. You may also wish to bring:
A cushion or something to sit on (chairs are provided but you might want some comfort!)
A snack/water
Notepad/pencil
-
The Quad has a permanent outdoor shelter to protect us from rain. Cold weather can usually be managed with warm clothing and layers. If wind speeds are dangerously high, we may need to cancel a session due to the risk from overhead branches or trees.
-
We would love that. Please get in touch via projects@wearewonder.org to discuss.
