Our Approach
At We Are Wonder, our work is rooted in the belief that children thrive when they are given space, trust, and time to explore the natural world on their own terms.
We draw inspiration from forest school, nature pedagogy, and self-directed education, but we’re not tied to one model. Instead, we offer a flexible, child-led experience that adapts to the needs of each group and individual.
Our sessions are guided by three core values:
Consent – Honouring each child’s agency—knowing and respecting the freedom to say yes, no, or maybe; and acknowledging the boundaries of others and the natural world.
Self-direction – Encouraging exploration through curiosity and meaning, rather than instruction—because children learn beautifully at their own pace.
Connection to nature – Embracing the natural world as both teacher and partner—fostering self-awareness, a sense of belonging, and deep ecological respect.
This approach isn’t just values-driven—it’s evidence-informed. Research shows that outdoor, play-based learning supports:
Confidence and self-esteem
Emotional regulation and resilience
Social collaboration and empathy
Focus and cognitive flexibility
Gross and fine motor skills
Whether they’re climbing trees, crafting with tools, telling stories, or quietly observing, children in our programs don’t just learn—they live the learning.
