Help Keep Our Work Going: Volunteer Treasurer Wanted
Typical Board Meeting, We Are Wonder…..
We’re looking for a Treasurer (Voluntary Board Role)
We’re on the lookout for someone who’s comfortable with numbers and wants to use that skill in a way that actually makes a difference.
We’re a small, creative, community-focused CIC doing meaningful work with young people and families. The projects are hands-on, outdoors, a bit scrappy in the best way — and growing. What we need now is someone at board level who can help us keep the financial side steady, clear, and well looked after.
This isn’t about spreadsheets for the sake of it. It’s about helping good work happen sustainably.
The role, in real terms:
You’d act as our Treasurer — a non-executive director providing independent financial oversight. That means:
Casting an eye over accounts, budgets and cashflow so we stay on track
Making sure we’ve got solid, sensible financial controls in place
Linking in with our bookkeeper/accountant (you won’t be doing the day-to-day)
Helping the board understand the numbers — and flagging anything we should be paying attention to
Keeping an eye on restricted vs unrestricted funds (important for funding compliance)
Being part of key financial decisions as we grow and take on new opportunities
What we’re looking for:
Someone who:
Is comfortable working with a small, informal, collaborative team
Has an interest in community / youth / creative work
Is confident reading and interpreting financial information
Understands budgeting and cashflow (charity/non-profit experience is a bonus, not a must)
Can ask good questions and bring a bit of clarity when things get complex
Is supportive but independent — able to challenge when needed
Experience as a trustee or NED welcome, but not essential
Time commitment:
Light touch, but meaningful — around 3–5 hours per quarter, with a bit more input around budgeting or funding reports.
Why it’s worth your time:
You’ll be helping shape an organisation that’s doing genuinely valuable work, without a huge time burden. It’s a chance to bring your skills into a creative, community-led space and see the direct impact.
