Back To The Woods

A very warm welcome back to The Den and The Nest. We're excited to be returning to the woods for another term and to welcome both new and returning children and families into our community.

Below you will find all the key information you need for the start of the Autumn/Winter block.

Drop-off & Collection Location Change

From this term onwards, both The Den and The Nest will be dropped off and collected directly from our site in Bellahouston Woods.

We appreciate this may be a little less convenient for some families. However, due to staffing, group sizes, and safety considerations around the play park equipment, we have decided that direct drop-off and collection at our woodland site is the best option for the children and the team.

Please park in the free Glasgow City Council car park and walk up the hill past the ski centre to the top of our site. A member of the team will be waiting by our sparkly flag to sign children in and out.

Drop-off: 10:00am-10:15am

Welcome circle: 10:30am

Please aim to arrive by 10:15am and no later than 10:30am so that all children can be fully welcomed into the session.

Collection: 3:45pm-4:00pm

At collection time, please come to the drop-off point rather than walking through the site. A member of the team will bring your child to you and sign them out. This helps us manage arrivals and departures safely and allows children to settle into the day more easily.

A map and directions are included in the handbook page 12.

Communication on the Day

Our site mobile phone: 07706 988517

We use our WhatsApp Community channels for day-to-day communication, updates, and any urgent messages.

If your child will be absent, running late, or needs to be collected early, please let us know via the relevant WhatsApp group wherever possible.

Please make sure you have joined the correct channel for your group - The Den (Thursdays) /The Nest (Fridays).

What to Bring & What to Wear

Many of you are already seasoned woodland families, but for those joining us for the first time, please take a look at the attached handbook page 14. It contains everything you need to know about preparing your child for a full day outdoors, including clothing, equipment, and what to expect from a typical session.

This information can also be found on our website.

A Quick Thank You

Thank you to everyone who has set up their subscriptions through our booking app. It makes a huge difference and helps us manage places and administration much more efficiently.

An even bigger thank you to our sponsored cyclists who raised money cycling from Glasgow to LochLomond together, you can read more about the adventure here: https://www.wearewonder.org/blog/our-fundraising-cycle-to-loch-lomond Together with contribution from Nature Explorers they raised £1233. Big thanks to Lizi, Filip, Nick, Ruth and Stu for their support and all the young people involved.

Nature Explorers is a monthly adventure in nature with friends for ages 8-16 supported by parent volunteers from WAW - you can find out more about it/contact details via the website.

Help Us Spread the Word

We currently have a few spaces available at The Nest and would love to welcome some new young people into the group.

If you know families who might be interested, please do share the webpage with them. We've also introduced a trial day ticket to make it easier for families to come along and experience a session before committing.

Thank you, as always, for your support. We're looking forward to another term of adventure, creativity, connection, and plenty of woodland magic.

Warm wishes,

The We Are Wonder Team
